The ritual of Marimbondo O ritual do Marimbondo

The young men must pass the Marimbondo test five times to hope to one day marry a young woman from the village. The ritual takes place in several phases, a date for the event is first fixed and the participants have a few days to choose a wasp nest in the surroundings of the village. On the day of the exam, the organizers built a ladder with trunks which they fixed around the bee-eater. At the end of the afternoon, the men of the community gather in the nhobe and practice songs and dances while heading under the tree. The exercise can thus begin with the first young warrior who climbs and strikes a blow in the nest before falling to the ground covered with bites under the traditional tears of women.
