A legal thesis defended by ruralists, the « marco temporal » can change the future of indigenous lands in Brazil by restricting demarcation only to lands that have been occupied or claimed by indigenous people since October 1988. On the one hand, the ruralists and institutions linked to agriculture defend the « marco temporal ». On the other hand, indigenous peoples fear losing their right to areas under demarcation. So far The Federal Constitution guarantees the creation of so-called indigenous lands (TI) in article 231 where it is written that these are territories that belong to indigenous peoples, who can explore their natural resources and develop their cultures. Ruralists supported by the far-right government of Jair Bolsonaro want to change these articles of the law that protect Indians and the Amazon rainforest to continue the exploration of the lands and the exploitation of the ground for the mines and the agrobuisness. Tese jurídica defendida por ruralistas, o « marco temporal » pode mudar o futuro das terras indígenas no país ao restringir a demarcação apenas às terras ocupadas ou reivindicadas por indígenas desde outubro de 1988. De um lado, os ruralistas e as instituições ligados à agricultura defendem o « marco temporal ». Por outro lado, os povos indígenas temem perder o direito às áreas demarcadas. Até o momento, a Constituição Federal garante a criação das chamadas terras indígenas (TI) no artigo 231 onde está escrito que são territórios de povos indígenas, que podem explorar seus recursos naturais e desenvolver suas culturas. Ruralistas apoiados pelo governo de extrema direita de Jair Bolsonaro querem mudar esses artigos da lei que protegem os índios e a floresta amazônica para continuar a exploração das terras e a exploração do solo para as minas e agropecuária.
